How to Change Your Fate with BRAVE Branding

“If you could change your fate, would you?” from the Brave movie trailer. Can you really change your fate with BRAVE branding?

Sometimes changing your fate starts with making what seems like a small decision.

For example, going to go to the movies.

When I was invited to a Pixar movie screening with a group of mom bloggers, I almost said no.

Why?

My “baby” was 17 years old and at just over 6′ tall, he would be the biggest kid in the theater.

But, so what? He wanted to see the movie – and get free food!

After the screening, I wrote a post called 10 ways to change your fate with brave branding.

It was my way of thanking Disney Pixar. Little did I know where the post would lead.

After retelling this story today, I thought about all the good things that happened because of that post. And, I went back and watched the trailer.

So what happened after I wrote the original 10 ways to change your fate with brave branding post?

Someone who read it, asked me to present a keynote on BRAVE Marketing at the NCMPR conference in Chicago.

Someone in that audience asked me to present a Disney-themed keynote: “Beauty and the Best: Your U and Social Media” at Walt Disney World.

And, the BRAVE concept led to a keynote speaker engagement that opened the door to a global sales training project . . . seven years later!

What if I hadn’t gone to the movie? None of these opportunities would have happened.

What would Disney think? Funny you should ask. After being on the same stage as a Disney SVP in Chicago, I asked if they had time to hear this story. I also wanted their permission to use the Disney name. Their response? “Of course, you can tell this story. Tell everyone to be BRAVE!” Here’s how to do just that.

What about the stones in the image?

A few weeks ago, we traveled to the UK. The image in this post is of Castlerigg Stone Circle in Keswick, which looks a lot like the stone circle in the movie. “Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. It is also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.” via English Heritage. Although the stone circle is in the Lake District, it is near the Scottish border where Brave takes place.
