The Big Reveal: My Top Secret Project

On November 13, I told my friends I would have a project ready to go by Thanksgiving. It was classified Top Secret to everyone else except family, clients and close friends.

I’d been wanting to create a LinkedIn class on Udemy.com and when I had a bit of break in client and speaking action, I jumped at the chance to create my first course.

How hard could it be to come up with a class for high school and college students about personal branding, networking and LinkedIn? Piece of cake, I thought.

I tested screen capture software. I ordered a microphone. I inventoried the information I had ready to go for repositioning. I asked if people like the idea.

Everyone seemed enthusiastic. This bubbly feedback kept me going. Creating a course with 30 minutes of video would be so easy.

So, I put it off. I waited. I let other projects take priority. The clock was ticking faster and faster. With less than a week to finish the course, I got serious. Productivity came in waves and slowly the pieces fell into place. On Tuesday November 26, I hit publish. The course was live. But, it wasn’t finished. Udemy came back with suggestions. I made them.
