Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day 2018! TEN years ago I wrote Talk Like a Pirate Today?
But before that, on September 19, 2006, I wrote a post called PR Takeaways: Talk Like a Pirate Day.
At the time, there were 130 Google News searches for talk like a pirate day.
2008 count: 340 talk like a pirate news stories and counting.
Drumroll please for 2018 . . . . 42,900,000!!!!
In 2008, Google Pirate launched for Talk Like a Pirate Day! http://www.google.com/webhp… 12 minutes ago

How TLAPD got started
What’s the PR [Pirate Relations] lesson here?
Silly wins. Silly gets links. Silly is fun.
Silly snags promos in other places.
Silly is viral. Silly gets newscasters to talk like pirates. Silly gets the gold.
That’s the pirate piece.
Social media loves viral stuff.
So do the search engines – and the media.
When I first published those words back in 2006, it was incentive enough for the pirates to come over and plunder my blog with comments.
How to Talk Like a Pirate with 5 A’s
source: TalkLikeAPirate.com
Ahoy! – “Hello!”
Avast! – Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, “Whoa! Get a load of that!”which today makes it more of a “Check it out” or “No way!” or “Get off!”
Aye! – “Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did.”
Aye aye! – “I’ll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over.”
Arrr! – This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. “Arrr!” can mean, variously, “yes,” “I agree,” “I’m happy,” “I’m enjoying this beer,” “My team is going to win it all,” “I saw that television show, it sucked!” and “That was a clever remark you or I just made.” And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!
And, to learn the 5A’s watch this . . .
