Publicly revealing your search terms, is well, like giving away one of your secret formulas. My advice?
Don’t do it – most of the time.
But, I like sharing. And, thanks to my Chicago Cicada Watch Journal post, Wired PR Works is attracting as much attention as a new tree gets from, ummm, a cicada crowd. Stringing together Chicago + Cicada + Watch in the blog’s title is an SEO headline I purposely wrote to generate engine search traffic.
The traffic flood will fade away in a few weeks when the cicadas disappear for another 17 years. For now, I’m tracking the interest and my Google rankings on terms that have nothing to do with what I do.
Is this an exercise in futility? I don’t think so. While most of the cicada searchers who find their way here are more interested in bugs than PR/marketing, my blog’s intent is to sometimes entertain/educate with personal insights and images – and measure SEO response.
Top search terms for the past seven days – note that the number of searches column is missing . . .
Try copying them to see where they land on Google – on page one, in many cases.

<p>Interesting! Wow, I hope you don’t feel to exposed 😉 “Nintendo Wii” wierd, I get some traffic from that search for one of my sites. I keep finding your site when I do searches. It must be destiny! 😉 Anyway, nice info
“Wii Fit” is now overtaking “Nintendo Will” for number of times searches land here. What is it? A personal trainer on the Wii, of course. Jason, I have a feeling we’ll be talking again real soon. 🙂
Heyy I Like Wat U R Doin
I didn’t realize Wii Fit was so popular. I mean, I knew it was really popular, but so popular as to have more searches than Nintendo Wii? Then again, it might have to do with the fact that all those people searching for Nintendo Wii now own one, and need to get some fun stuff for it.
